Doral & Miami

The Blue Monster — five decades of Tour lore with Miami's nights attached.

blue-monstermiami-nightsone-propertytour-history

The place

For more than fifty years the Blue Monster at Doral was a fixture of the PGA Tour calendar, its palm-lined fairways and water-guarded 18th producing champions from the game's every era. A Gil Hanse renovation sharpened Dick Wilson's original into a modern monster, and it anchors a multi-course resort where the crew can play a different track daily without moving the car. Then there is the other half of the equation: Miami — Cuban food in Doral's own neighborhoods, South Beach and Wynwood twenty minutes east, and nights that start late.

Where you crash

The resort

Trump National Doral Miami

The sprawling golf resort around the Blue Monster — big rooms, pools, spa and multiple restaurants, with every first tee inside the property.

◆ The private house

The Private House

A gated Miami villa in the Doral or Coral Gables orbit — private pool, outdoor kitchen, twenty minutes to the first tee and to South Beach. Miami's villa market runs from comfortable to absurd.

PM Check in, range session, Cuban dinner in Doral — croquetas and cortaditos to set the tone.

  2. 2

    Red Tiger

AM The friendly opener to find the swing.

PM Pool afternoon; Wynwood murals and dinner out east.

  3. 3

    Golden Palm

AM The sterner sister — a real scorecard test.

PM Spa or cabana day; the big South Beach night out.

  4. 4

    Blue Monster — the Cup

AM The team match on the Monster — survive the water on 18 with the trophy intact.

PM Trophy dinner at the resort; cigars — this is Miami, buy the good ones.

  5. 5

    Farewell nine & home

AM An early Red Tiger loop or café con leche on the terrace, then the drive home.

Why it wins

The Blue Monster is one of the most famous resort courses in America — decades of PGA Tour winners walked its water-lined 18th — and it is bookable with a resort stay. Add sister courses on property and Miami twenty minutes east, and the trip swings big all week.

Booking notes

Book Blue Monster tee times with the room package — the marquee sells out first. Winter is peak Miami season; have the concierge confirm the current course lineup and caddie options for your dates.
