Arcadia Bluffs

Clifftop golf 200 feet above Lake Michigan — the Midwest's most dramatic sunset.

The place

Arcadia Bluffs stands on a bluff two hundred feet above Lake Michigan, and the Bluffs course uses every inch of it — wind-whipped, fescue-lined golf with water views from all eighteen and a clubhouse porch built for watching the sun drown in the lake. The South course, a few minutes inland, changes the channel completely: square-edged greens and strategic angles in homage to the great Chicago-school architects. On-site rooms above the bluff keep the crew close to the porch, and the Crystal Lake–Frankfort corridor nearby supplies beach towns, breweries and charter fishing.

Why it wins

The Bluffs course delivers ocean-links drama without an ocean — every hole with a Lake Michigan horizon — and the South course answers with a Golden-Age-style inland masterclass. Add whitefish dinners and bluff-top sunsets and it sells itself.

Booking notes

Book rooms and both courses together — bluff-view rooms and prime Bluffs tee times go first. Lock a late-afternoon finish at least one day so the crew gets the sunset from the porch with drinks in hand.
